All activities are cancelled due to the coronovirus outbreak. The hall remains closed.
The following gives information on the Social activities organised for and by the Northesk family in 'normal' times.
Social Activities Committee
The Social Activities Committee organises a range of enjoyable activities and events throughout the year, not only for the congregation but also for the wider community, and in doing so raises funds for the church. These activities include sales of work, concerts, golf matches, fashion shows, and tea dances for senior citizens, and are advertised in the Northesk News, in church announcements and on the noticeboard. Further details are given in 'Future Events'.
These are held every Saturday from 10 am to 12 noon in the Church Hall. This is a great opportunity for members of the congregation and of the wider Mussselburgh community and beyond to meet together for a chat over a cup of coffee (or tea) and a biscuit. Occasionally, tasty hot bacon rolls also being served! The coffee mornings make a valuable contribution towards the running costs of the church and halls - so far this year, they have raised enough money to pay for gas and electricity costs.
Come and enjoy some Northesk hospitality - all are welcome.
The Baking Stall is held on the first Saturday of most months, in conjunction with the Coffee mornings. For sale is a wide variety of delicious home-baked treats - cakes, shortbread, fruit loaves, biscuits, sweets. A real treat, and a bargain!
The Badminton Club meets every Wednesday in the Church Hall from 7.30 pm till around 10 pm. All ages are welcome but we ask that juniors be accompanied by either a parent or guardian. For further information, contact Douglas Kinghorn on 0131 665 6860.
Classes in country dancing take place on Fridays in the Church hall from September till May, from 11.30 am till around 1 pm. Coaching is given by Ruby Wilkinson. The emphasis is very much on enjoyment of the dance rather than getting every step correct! For further information, contact Margaret Elgin on 0131 665 7019.
